Art and the big Question: Where is God in the 21st century?

Oxo Tower Wharf
Bargehouse Street
South Bank

29th March to 8 April 2018
Open daily 11am – 6pm, late night Thursdays until 8pm

The public can now view a selected short list from a very substantial field of over 450 entries for the inaugural biennial Chaiya Art Awards 2018, in an exhibition from 29th March to 8th April at London’s South Bank gallery@oxo. The theme set this year is ‘Where is God in our 21st century world?

Competition founder Katrina Moss is delighted with both the quality and variety of the response. “We wanted an inclusive competition for artists, whatever their faith or views on God.” she commented. “The aim was to inspire an artistic response, providing insight on a mysterious and fundamental question.”

The panel of five judges, all well respected experts in the arts arena, will be announcing the winners of the top prize of £10,000 along with other prizes on the Preview night. But visitors will also have their say, in voting for their own choice from among the works of art on display.

This exhibition of painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography and video is for the curious and open-minded, for people of all faiths and none. It is bursting with richness and diversity, vulnerability and exploration, colour and fragility, treasure and beauty.

The 40+ featured artists care about our world and the life it sustains. Their persistent probing to find meaning and understanding through what they create is hugely important to us all.  Does God exist? If He is real, where is He and what does He have to offer?

Come along and see for yourself how a range of talented artists have sought to address these questions.

Admission is free. Art for sale. Supporting sponsors include the Bible Society and Jerusalem Trust
