Beyond The Road is an immersive exhibition that merges the worlds of visual art, music and film, offering visitors a chance to lose themselves in a multi-sensory world led by sound. The durational sound and visual art installation runs on a continuous loop and is a reconstruction of audio and visual elements from the UNKLE albums The Road: Part I and The Road: Part II / Lost Highway, creating a multi-sensory experience over the entire top floor of the Gallery. In this original concept visitors will be invited to explore multiple rooms and discover a bespoke sound design created especially for the space interspersed with works by contemporary artists and filmmakers.
Beyond The Road is an independent project created by Colin Nightingale (Punchdrunk), Stephen Dobbie (Punchdrunk) and James Lavelle (UNKLE) in collaboration with the Saatchi Gallery.
Beyond the Road features music by UNKLE in collaboration with artists and filmmakers as follows (in alphabetical order):
Danny Boyle, Jonas Burgert, Nathan Coley, Alfonso Cuaron, Toby Dye, Doug Foster, Azzi Glasser, John Isaacs, Tupac Martir, Polly Morgan, David Nicholson, Norbert Schoerner, John Stark, Warren Du Preez & Nick Thornton-Jones
The development of ‘Beyond the Road’ was supported by Punchdrunk as part of its Research and Development Programme into new forms of immersive audience experience.
