St. Matthew’s Church
8pm – 5th July 2018
Jigsaw Players’ Concert Series perform their SEASON FINALE this year on Thursday 5 July, as part of MyRaynesPark Festival.
St Matthew’s Church will be filled with the atmospheric and deeply-hued landscapes of Katie Ault, as Emmanuella Reiter (viola) and her tribe perform Brahms’ first String Sextet, followed by Mendelssohn’s Octet.
The “youthful verve, brilliance and perfection” of Mendelssohn’s Octet “make it one of the miracles of nineteenth-century music ever written” wrote Conrad Wilson. Certainly, the score, written for a double string quartet of 4 violins, 2 violas and 2 cellos, makes for an exuberant, huge sound that’s fun to play, really joyful, and that never fails to thrill the audience.
A suitably triumphant finale for the JPCS players then, who will be back in September for their 10th anniversary year.
JPCS is a world-class Chamber Music and Jazz Music group that plays exclusively at London Merton venues, all year round www.jigsawplayers.co.uk
